Talkin Tarn education resources

The Next Generation project has included a review and update of Talkin Tarn’s self-guided education resources. Carlisle City Council and the North Pennines AONB Partnership have worked together through the Fellfoot Forward Landscape Partnership Scheme to develop online education resources for schools, youth groups and families, to use independently.

OASES (Outdoor and Sustainability Education Specialists) have created six education resources to support teachers and outdoor educators to plan and conduct self-guided visits to Talkin Tarn Country Park. These resources are themed around subjects from art, maths, science and history to literature and wildlife, ensuring strong links to the curriculum and offering therapeutic, sustainable and adaptable learning in the outdoors. Although primarily aimed at key stage 2 children, the resources can be adapted for any age group and are perfect for families looking for fun activities to do together.

Teachers, partners and freelance education providers from the Fellfoot Forward area, Carlisle, and along the A69 corridor will be offered CPD sessions and other outdoor education opportunities. Our Fellfoot Forward schools and youth groups transport grants offer up to £200 per journey for teachers and leaders bringing their class/school and groups to Talkin Tarn to use the resources. The resources can be used back at school or any other outdoor space.
