DESCRIPTION:Join the Star camp for an astronomical weekend 27 to 29 October in Teesdale. The camp is perfect for novice astronomers and is great for adults and children (6+ years). Telescopes will be provided\, along with expert guidance and you are welcome to bring your own equipment too\, including cameras (with tripods) and binoculars. \nThere will also be astronomy themed talks\, solar observing and a bottle rocket competition. \nDuring the weekend Saturn will be looking amazing\, along with a super bright Jupiter and a big moon. SUMMARY:Go Stargazing at Hannah’s Meadow
DESCRIPTION:Join local astronomer  Neill Sanders from Go Stargazing on 29 October 7.30pm to 10pm for a laser-guided tour of the night skies above the North Pennines at the wonderful location of Birk Hatt Farm in Baldersdale. \nLearn your way around the constellations and enjoy incredible views of the Moon\, Jupiter and Saturn through a large telescope (weather permitting). Following our stargazing session and a break for hot chocolate there will be a talk on ‘The Search for Exoplanets’. \nThis event is aimed at adults (18+ years). No dogs please. Please wrap up warm/bring a torch (red light if you have one). Unfortunately this event is not wheelchair accessible. DESCRIPTION:The event on 29 October 8pm to 11pm  will begin with a welcome from the lead astronomer at Grassholme Observatory\, Gary Fildes. Gary is a very experienced science communicator and astronomer\, and founder of the Kielder Observatory\, where he was Director and CEO for over 11 years. \nAfter the welcome Gary will take you on a whistle stop tour of the Universe. Following this\, you will split into groups and\, weather depending\, start observing the sky\, with telescopes and cameras. \nOn certain nights we may even see the Aurora Borealis from Grassholme. It is visible in these skies. But the conditions have to be right for it to be seen and it’s a rare occurrence. Whilst it’s not guaranteed that you will see them – you will leave well equipped on what they are and how to spot them in the future. \nThis is a fun-filled night\, with stunning handouts\, experiments and stargazing with expert tuition from Gary and his team of astronomers. \nGet wrapped up – it can get chilly when we are outside!
