SUMMARY:Pies and skies
DESCRIPTION:Join Richard Darn at the Hive for this mash-up event on Saturday 1 November\, 7pm to 10pm\, combining a pie and peas supper and a fascinating talk on dark skies in the North Pennines – and why you should love them. \nDid you know the North Pennines has one of the nation’s darkest skies? Richard will take you on a fabulous journey looking at why that is so important for wildlife and what it means for the view overhead. How easy is the Milky Way to see from here? What about the Northern Lights and how far can we see into the Universe from our beautiful vantage point here on Earth? All these questions will be answered together with tips on how to keep the North Pennines a stargazing wonderland. \nAdult (18+): £15\nChild (7-17): £10 \nYour ticket includes a hot or cold drink\, pie\, chips and peas. Please state any dietary requirements when booking (including vegetarian/vegan). Places are limited so don’t leave it too late to book. \nBooking\n\nPre-booking is essential via: https://hivenenthead.co.uk/product-category/events/ \n\nHopefully there will be an opportunity (weather permitting) to view the stars through a telescope. But note that the event will still go ahead if the sky is overcast. \nThis event is aimed at people with a general interest in the night sky\, including families with children (aimed at ages 7+). Bring warm/waterproof clothes/a torch (red light if you have one). No dogs please – they’re a trip hazard around telescopes. \nThe Hive has accessible parking\, is wheelchair accessible and has a wheelchair accessible toilet. \nThis event is part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival running from 22 October to 2 November 2025 – www.NorthPenninesStarFest.org #NorthPennStarFest25 #NPennDarkSkies
