SUMMARY:Needle felting workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come along to an evening of needle felting with local artist\, Julia Neubauer\, at Nenthead Village Hall\, 19 May\, 6pm to 8pm. Everyone is welcome\,  even if you’re a complete beginner. You don’t need to bring anything\, as all the supplies will be provided. \nIn this free workshop you will be making a needle felted wall hanging\, bookmark\, or coaster. Using Herdwick felt from a local Cumbrian company\, The Chimney Steep\, you will embellish your background using different materials and embroidery wool to add details. \nSuitable for children aged seven and above\, all children must be supervised by an adult. No designated parking\, but drop-off near door. Wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible toilet. \nThis workshop is part of the Nenthead200 celebrations\, marking 200 years since the London Lead Company designed the village of Nenthead. Using gelatine plates – a soft\, flexible printing surface – create unique\, colourful prints that capture the intricate details and textures of each plant. Experiment with layering\, colour\, and design to make your own pieces of artwork to take home. \nAll art materials\, plants and botanicals to print with will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a bit messy. Suitable for families with children over the age of 7 years. All children must be supervised by a responsible adult. \nSuggested donation of £3 per adult and £2 per child. SUMMARY:Saturday stroll - NatureFest special
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Saturday stroll for North Pennines NatureFest celebrating the unique flora of the area. \nLocal artist Carole McCourt will lead a guided walk from Westgate\, Weardale\, 31 May\, 10.30am to 2.30pm\, to explore the delicate balance between geology and botany\, where plants have adapted to survive in challenging conditions. \nThe event begins with a short presentation\, followed by an easy walk learning about a variety of wildflowers\, grasses\, and lichens\, including rare lead-tolerant plants known as metallophytes. See species like Spring Sandwort (leadwort)\, Pyrenean Scurvy Grass\, Alpine Pennycress\, and Wild Mountain Pansies\, which thrive here in abundance during May to July. \nAfter the walk\, return for lunch and a creative workshop\, using art materials (provided) to capture the beauty of the landscape and its plants. \nPlease wear suitable footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather\, and bring a packed lunch and drinks. The event is suitable for families with children over the age of seven. Dogs on short leads are welcome. \nSuggested donation £3 per adult\, £2 per child. SUMMARY:Nature camp weekend
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a family-friendly weekend of nature themed activities at Low Way Farm in Holwick\, Teesdale\, Saturday 31 May from 12 noon to Sunday 1 June 2pm. \nActivities will be running throughout the day and into the evening\, but you can take it at your own pace. There are options to bring your own kit and camp\, or stay in the bunkhouse. An evening meal and breakfast are provided within the ticket price. \nThe event is suitable for children 5+. All children must be supervised by a responsible adult. Due to the nature of the weekend it is not dog friendly. \nActivities on offer: \n\nRiver dipping\nWoodland walk\nBat detectors and moth trapping\nWandering through the wildflower meadows\nArts and crafts\nImmersive morning bird song walk with sound recording artist\nNature cinema\nMeet the farmer\nCommunal campfire\n\nFurther details of the above activities will be sent to attendees closer to the time. \nTickets \n\nAdmission – Adult £30 / Child £25.\nAccommodation – Camping is free\, bunk barn per person is £5.\n\nThere is camping kit available to borrow if needed (tents\, sleeping bags\, liners and mats)\, simply let us know when you are booking if you require this. \nWe would like everyone to be able to attend Nature Camp.
