SUMMARY:Guided walk for new parents/carers and children under 2 years old
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxed guided walk for all new parents/carers and their babies from Bowlees Visitor Centre.  The next walk will be on Monday 21 October from 10am to 12 noon. \nThe walks are aimed at parents/carers with children under the age of two years that can go in a carrier or sling. A small number of slings will be available to borrow (please indicate in your booking if you would need one of these). \nThe routes will be of a gentle nature. Refreshments will be available in the upstairs gallery at Bowlees after the walk with a chance to chat and meet other new parents and carers whilst taking the opportunity to be outside and active. \nThe guided walks are free but a donation is welcome. This will go towards continuing the community activities run by the North Pennines National Landscape team. \nPlease use the Ticketsource link to book. \n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Lantern making and night-time mine trip
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the dark skies of the North Pennines and join us for a free mine trip like no other at this evening event held at Nenthead Mines\, near Alston\, Tuesday 29 October\, 2pm to 6pm. \nDuring this workshop you will learn how to make your own paper lantern that you will get to take away with you. Following the workshop you will then be able to walk in the footsteps of miners past\, and process through the mine using your lantern. \nThis includes an underground tour of the mine led by knowledgeable volunteers from Nenthead Mines Conservation Society. \nAccessibility information: the walk through the mine site and the underground portion is generally level and flat. The underground tour is generally tall enough to walk at full height\, although the first approximately 30m requires you to duck as this is the shortest part of the mine. There are two short ladders to climb as part of the mine tour which have handrails and are firmly installed. Suitable for children ages 7+. Please note any children joining will need to be able to walk by themselves. \nThis event is part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival running from 25 October to 3 November 2024 – www.NorthPenninesStarFest.org\n#NorthPennStarFest24 #NPennDarkSkies \nPlease use the Ticketsource link to book. \n\n\n\n \n \n\n\nNo designated parking\, but drop-off near door. Not wheelchair accessible. No accessible toilet. \nThis event is not suitable for dogs. \n      \n
