DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with us to improve access to various lead mine sites across the North Pennines on the second Thursday of each month. The first date is 2 April\, 10am to 3pm. \nIn this monthly activity you will join Adam\, Access Officer at the North Pennines National Landscape\, to help make improvements to footpaths leading to mining sites. \nSteel toe capped boots and gloves are strongly recommended for this task\, gloves can be provided.\nMore details will be provided upon signing up. SUMMARY:Pennine Way Champions waymarking training
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to waymark on the Pennine Way from Heather Procter\, Pennine National Trails Partnership Manager and David Benson\, Countryside Access Officer.  The day will begin with a short presentation in Alston Town Hall followed by a 4 mile walk to address some waymarking issues in the real world. 19 July\, 10am to 16:30pm. \nSuitable for 16+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a significant amount walking therefore a reasonable level of fitness will be required. We will be stopping for lunch while on the walk\, therefore please bring a packed lunch with you. \nWe will finish the day with an informal get together at the Alston House Hotel\, where tea and cake will be provided. DESCRIPTION:A volunteering opportunity to help install four waymarking posts to guide users of the Weardale Way across Heights Pasture on 14 June 10am to 3pm. There will be a significant amount walking involving carrying heavy tools over rough terrain\, therefore a reasonable level of fitness will be required. Suitable for 16+ – any under 18s to be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring warm waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
