DESCRIPTION:**SOLD OUT** \nA magical evening of stargazing and a three course meal. \nDiscover the magnificence of the night sky with an exciting stargazing experience at the breathtaking High Force Waterfall in Teesdale\, County Durham. The skies are some of the darkest in the country and High Force will be illuminated – creating a spectacular ‘wow’ factor. \nThe evening begins with a delicious three course meal in the Garden Room and an insightful presentation. You will then walk down to the waterfall\, where you will experience some of the darkest skies in the country. A stargazing expert will guide you through the wonders of the night\, uncovering all the magic the night sky has to offer. During the North Pennines Stargazing Festival there are two dates to choose from – Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October\, 6pm to 8.30pm. \nBring warm/waterproof clothes. The walk to the waterfall will be dark and may be slippery – suitable footwear is advised. DESCRIPTION:The event will begin with a welcome from the lead astronomer at Grassholme Observatory\, Gary Fildes. Gary is a very experienced science communicator and astronomer\, and founder of the Kielder Observatory\, where he was Director and CEO for over 11 years. During the North Pennines Stargazing Festival there are three evenings to choose from\, Friday 24\,  Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October\, 8pm to 11pm. \nAfter the welcome Gary will take you on a whistle-stop tour of the Universe. Following this\, you will be split into groups and\, weather depending\, start observing the sky\, with telescopes and cameras. \nWith no Moon in the sky\, you will look out for the Milky Way\, and many deep sky objects like galaxies\, nebulae and star clusters. You will then use the robotic telescope to scour the skies for other jewels in the cosmos. Then it’s back into the classroom for a hot drink and questions. \nBring warm clothes – it can get chilly when you are outside. The observatory\, classroom and toilets are accessible. SUMMARY:The Orionid meteor shower
