They will also learn about their conservation status and threats as well as the current knowledge baseline of adders in the North Pennines. \nThere will be many opportunities in the future to join as volunteer adder surveyors for the North Pennines National Landscape. \nParticipants will also learn how to identify the other reptiles and amphibians found in the North Pennines. \nThe online session is open to all with the aim of adults (older children with adults) capable of surveying in the field in the future. This course will be led by John Grundy\, vice chair and field training officer for the North East Reptile & Amphibian Group. Participants will spend the morning indoors\, looking at landscapes and key features for adders within them\, plus reptile behaviour and ecology. This will be followed by an outdoors session practising survey techniques\, discussing survey methods and pinpointing key habitat features. The course is suitable for beginners\, as well as more experienced naturalists who wish to develop their adder survey skills. \nTea and coffee provided. \nBooking is essential as places are limited.
