Produced by Joanne Coates\, it is a culmination of over 50 young people’s work to explore issues that are important to them through photography\, collage\, writing and drawing. \nThe resulting work is a unique insight into the everyday life of young people in rural communities. It offers a rare glimpse through the eyes of the youth. The participants were encouraged to make pictures of what is important to them. Joanne is an award-winning artist based in the rural north of England\, her work focuses on rurality and class. \nPhotographs taken by participants in the project have been printed on mesh and strung between trees. The technique allows natural light to filter through the images. The installation will be on-site from Saturday 23 April to Tuesday 21 June at Bowlees Visitor Centre. Abre is an artist and architect focused on sculpture and installation\, using themes of belonging and the land. \nWooden looms have been hand-woven using wool to reflect the colours of the Swaledale landscape and to celebrate the effort it takes to create and maintain communities. The looms are erected over drystone walls in Muker meadows and some of the tapestries remain unfinished\, offering visitors the opportunity to add to this communally produced artwork. \nThe outdoor installation is free to visit and will be on-site from 18 to 24 April 2022 – Grid Reference: SD910983. Delivered as part of the Tees-Swale: naturally connected programme\, the project invites you to record sightings of species such as curlew and spring gentian to help monitor seasonal changes. We will share some handy identification tips and demonstrate the iNaturalist mobile app (you may wish to download the app at home before coming as the signal at Bowlees is limited). \nNo need to book – this is a drop-in session running from 10 am to 2 pm on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March. In this webinar we will explain what the programme can support\, how it will work and how you can apply. \nThe fund runs until March 2024 and is part of Defra’s Agricultural Transition Plan.
