It is within Minsteracres Retreat Centre which is near Slaley Hall. Postcode is DH8 9RT \nAbout Us\nTuT Bull\nHi\, I’m TuT Bull\, A wilderness artist & bushcrafter. I spend my time creating works of art using natural materials and going on adventures in the most beautiful northern England.\nSurrounded by pristine shorelines\, vast woodlands and roaming hillsides inspiration is all around me.\nI became a bushcrafter at the age of 5 when my father a British army chef began teaching me survival and bushcraft skills.Later in my life I became seriously ill and while recovering I returned to my wilderness ways and the skills my father had taught me.\nI believe nature is a powerful healer\, not only for the body\, but our souls and minds too. \nBushlore keeps traditional skills alive with the hope of inspiring people to reconnect with our natural world. So please come along on my Bushlore adventure and be inspired. \nLya Vollering\nI am a gartist\, that is a gardener and an artist. I am interested in how we link social justice with environmental justice. Above all\, how do we create alternative ways of living that are sustainable socially\, financially\, spiritually\, emotionally\, mentally.. for all living creature? And how do we do that in a way that does justice to the enormous rich diversity of this world? I live in the walled garden and love to welcome people to share the space with all the other beings here. \nScarlet Hall\nHi\, I am a genderqueer person who is working at the North Pennines AONB Partnership to support collective learning around how to make the organisation\, our work and the wider North Pennines more welcoming and accessible to a greater diversity of people. \nThis event is a collaboration between TuT Bull\, the North Pennines AONB Partnership\, LGBT+ Northern Social Group\, and The Walled Garden at Minsteracres. \n

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Moorland Line
DESCRIPTION:Moorland Line: an exhibition of art inspired by the North Pennines landscape\nBowlees Visitor Centre Gallery\n1 – 31 August 2022\nA collection of artworks inspired by the landscapes of the North Pennines AONB and UNESCO Global Geopark will be on display at Bowlees Visitor Centre throughout August. \nArtist Simon Wilson will be exhibiting and selling a collection of mixed media and print contemporary landscape artworks in the Bowlees Gallery\, entitled Moorland Line. \nMoorland Line marks the boundary between the open moorland and farm fields in upland areas like the North Pennines. \nSimon works as a Programme Manager for the North Pennines AONB Partnership\, and is responsible for work relating to business and engagement. He said: “In my day job I spend a lot of time encouraging people to discover the outstanding North Pennines landscape\, similar to what I hope to achieve with my art. The Bowlees Visitor Centre is the gateway for visitors to the North Pennines and an ideal location to display my art\, and I hope that people will enjoy my art and be inspired to discover the landscapes I’ve depicted.” \nSimon works mainly in acrylic but also in mixed media including Indian Ink\, graphite and charcoal. Most of his work is contemporary landscapes and seascapes of Northern England. “My work begins with outdoor sketches\, photographs and plein air paintings with works being completed in the studio. I spend time outside in all weathers and all seasons and am particularly interested in capturing dramatic skies.” \nBowlees Visitor Centre is run by the North Pennines AONB Partnership and is the perfect place to start exploring the walks\, waterfalls and wildlife in the local area\, or to inspire a trip further afield in the AONB. The Centre offers visitor information\, refreshments at the Falls Café\, and a gallery space\, plus places to explore\, picnic and play in the grounds.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: The Great Outdoors
DESCRIPTION:The Great Outdoors by Tonya Mitchell \nBowlees Visitor Centre Gallery \n1 September – 12 October 2022 \nAn exhibition of traditional oil painted landscapes with a contemporary twist will be on show at the Bowlees Visitor Centre Gallery during September. \nArtist Tonya Mitchell’s solo exhibition ‘The Great Outdoors’ is a collection of landscapes painted in traditional oil paint on canvas. Tonya’s work is a mix of realism and romanticism\, and while there is a traditional feel to her landscapes there is also a distinct contemporary influence. Alongside the paintings there will be information about their geological and historical context\, reflecting Tonya’s research into the traditions\, folk songs\, history\, and geography connected to each of the places she paints. \nDescribing her art practice\, Tonya said: “I work in oil because I love all it offers\, but\, as I started painting as a way of dealing with emotional pain\, the slow process of an oil painting proved very therapeutic. The hours of work and days of drying time may not be visible to the beholder\, but it gives me as an artist time to live with the painting that can typically be four to six months in the making. What many people do not realise is that oil paint is very environmentally friendly\, using only natural oils such as linseed and turpentine there is no plutonium in either the paint or the mixers just natural products.” \nBowlees Visitor Centre is run by the North Pennines AONB Partnership and is the perfect place to start exploring the walks\, waterfalls and wildlife in the local area\, or to inspire a trip further afield in the AONB. The Centre offers visitor information\, refreshments at the Falls Café\, and a gallery space\, plus places to explore\, picnic and play in the grounds.
