If the sky is clear you’ll be outside looking up with laser pointers to identify the cosmos looking in particular\, for Saturn\, Jupiter and the constellations of Taurus\, the Seven Sisters\, and much\, much more. If it’s cloudy\, no worries we’ll use our astronomy software and big screen projection to show you a virtual image of the ‘live’ sky that night. \nBut it won’t stop there\, ACA’s creative director and artist Alan Smith will overlap with Roy to take you back through art history looking at how humankind has creatively interpreted the cosmos through some incredible artwork. This will involve planting new trees\, removing plastic guards from trees that no longer need them\, tidying and stacking tubes and stakes. The event will be run in partnership with the Woodland Trust. \nThis is a quiet\, peaceful and fairly remote location – the site is difficult to access and therefore requires a medium degree of fitness. It involves a 2.5km walk along a public track with some gradual up-hills to reach the edge of the site\, estimated 45 mins at a slow pace. There are no toilet facilities. \nVolunteers will need to be prepared for a day in the fells – ie full waterproofs\, good boots\, plenty of water and food\, a sun hat\, warm clothes.
