DESCRIPTION:Are you a teacher or youth group leader interested in taking groups out for farm visits\, or a farmer interested in hosting an educational visit?  Following our successful Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme training which Fellfoot Forward LPS organised in 2021\, we’d like to facilitate connections between farmers and those interested in bringing groups onto farms. Join Fellfoot Forward LPS at Townhead Farm\, Croglin\, to find out more about the positives and practicalities of farm educational visits. There will be opportunities to try some activities\, discuss what you would like to get from a farm visit and make some new connections. \nThis event will be free to attend and open to anyone regardless of experience. SUMMARY:Farming in Protected Landscapes webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Defra-funded Farming in Protected Landscapes programme is managed in the North Pennines by the North Pennines AONB Partnership. In this webinar we will explain what the programme can support\, how it will work and how you can apply. \nThe fund runs until March 2024 and is part of Defra’s Agricultural Transition Plan. It has been developed by Defra with the support of AONB and National Park staff from across the country. \nThe programme will provide funding to farmers and land managers (and others working with them)\, for projects that support nature recovery\, mitigate the impacts of climate change\, provide opportunities for people to engage with the landscape and cultural heritage\, or support nature-friendly\, sustainable farm businesses. \nWe want to encourage strong applications from the North Pennines farming and land management community\, so please join us at this webinar to find out more. Delivered as part of the Tees-Swale: naturally connected programme\, the project invites you to record sightings of species such as curlew and spring gentian to help monitor seasonal changes. We will share some handy identification tips and demonstrate the iNaturalist mobile app (you may wish to download the app at home before coming as the signal at Bowlees is limited). \nNo need to book – this is a drop-in session running from 10 am to 2 pm on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March. Please wear warm\, waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes as we will be outdoors. \nTees-Swale is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and led by the North Pennines AONB Partnership in collaboration with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

DESCRIPTION:Do you want to do something for nature\, carbon capture\, and yourself? Join us and Fellfoot Forward farmers and landowners in creating new hedges and woodland. Come along for some exercise and fun whilst helping wildlife and the planet. The session will take place on  Saturday 19 March at Hilltop Farm\, Gamblesby (this is a rescheduled date from the original which was postponed due to high winds). \nPlease register on our volunteer database (make sure you select the general interest Planting). SUMMARY:Discovery Club: Signs of spring
DESCRIPTION:Our club for young adventurers is back at Bowlees Visitor Centre\, on Saturday 26 March we will be running our first Discovery Club of 2022 looking at the signs of spring. Come along and see what you can discover about nature and the landscape in the North Pennines.\nJoin us for a morning of outdoor family-friendly activities. We’ll be taking a walk to look for the first signs of spring\, enjoying a scavenger hunt and building a huge nest from natural materials. \nDiscovery Club is for young adventurers aged between 3 and 11. Cost: Members – £5 annual membership then £1 per child per session. Non-members – £3 per child per session. \nBooking is essential. Come dressed for the outdoors in warm\, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
