SUMMARY:Volunteer opportunity - calaminarian seed collecting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a session of collecting seeds from rare calaminarian plant species in Langdon Beck\, Teesdale\, on Wednesday 6 August\, 10am to 1pm. \nSeeds will be sown at workshops this autumn and grown on into plants that can be used as part of the Tees-Swale: naturally connected programmes habitat restoration works on diffuse metals sites. \nThis activity is suitable for all ages\, children must be accompanied by an adult. \nOutdoor clothing to be worn\, bring waterproofs and wear sturdy shoes. The session going ahead on this date is dependent upon seasonal variations in the ripening of seeds.  If the session has to be re-scheduled this will be communicated to people signed up no later than 24 hours prior \nPlease sign up using the volunteer platform Better Impact.

SUMMARY:Wild Wednesday - pollinator picnic
DESCRIPTION:Wild Wednesdays are activities suitable for children aged five and over to enjoy and be creative. \nJoin us at Bowlees Visitor Centre on 6 August\, 10.30am to 12.30pm\, for a fun filled morning of activities getting to know the variety of pollinating insects we have around the site. Take part in citizen science PoMS Pollinator Scheme and help record and learn tips for how to invite more pollinators into your own garden and local wild places. \nSuitable for children aged five to twelve years. Younger siblings also welcome but no need to book. All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. £2 per child. Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather and potentially messy activities. SUMMARY:Wild Wednesday - seeds of the summer
DESCRIPTION:Wild Wednesdays are are activities suitable for children aged five and over to enjoy and be creative. \nJoin us on a family-friendly walk to collect seeds from local wildflowers. Bring the collections back to the visitor centre to sow in the tree and wildflower nursey\, and make a seed bomb to take home with you. \nAll materials and equipment will be provided. Please wear sturdy footwear\, and clothing suitable for the weather and potentially messy activities. \nSuitable for children aged five to 12 years. All children need to be accompanied by an adult. (Younger siblings are welcome but do not need to book). Accompanying adults are free and do not need to book. \nPlease use the Ticketsource link to book. \n\n\n\n                \n                \n\n\n \n  \nWhat is a seed bomb? – A seed bomb is a handmade clay ball that contain a mix of compost and seeds. After the bomb has been thrown and the seeds have begun to germinate the bomb will slowly break apart. The soil will then provide a base for the seeds to start growing.
