SUMMARY:Home educators' session - Blanchland
DESCRIPTION:This is a family workshop for home educators\, 21 August\, 10am to 12 noon in Blanchland Village Hall. The theme is rivers and landscapes\, looking at how the local landscape is formed and shaped by water and either measuring how the River Derwent flows or seeing what lives in it. \nPlease wear sturdy footwear\, and clothing suitable for the weather and potentially messy activities. Wellies recommended. \nAfter the workshop and a break for lunch\, stay on for an optional walk of 2.2km along the River Derwent.Suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years. £2 per child. \nAll children need to be accompanied by an adult. DESCRIPTION:Come along and get involved in recording historic structures on working days at sites around the North Pennines. This is a chance to develop and/or practice your skills related to recording historic features\, including photogrammetry and condition assessment. You’ll have the chance to work with other volunteers and trained staff\, while helping us to safeguard these important sites. \nYou will need to bring walking boots and clothing appropriate for spending the day outdoors in a variety of weather. You will also need a packed lunch\, snacks and a drink. Weatheritt\, graphic artist and designer\, will teach you different artistic techniques using water colours\, ink\, collages and more. Get creative and mix wildlife and industrial themes in your postcards. This workshop is suitable for people of all ages and would make a great family day out. \nAll artworks will be digitised and projected inside a mysterious cabinet of curiosities to make up part of a public exhibition. \nThis workshop is part of the 2024 Land of Lead and Silver community arts programme.
