DESCRIPTION:Take a tour of Kirkoswald Castle with Brian Ellison\, stonemason with our partner\, Stone Technical Services. Brian will guide you around the site and explain the techniques being used in the consolidation of this heritage building\, which will remove it from Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register. \nThe two tours will take place at 11am and 5pm. Please note that the ground is uneven and wet in places. Wear sturdy footwear and suitable outdoor clothing. \nPlaces are limited\, book for the 11am tour   or   5pm tour \n

DESCRIPTION:Join Brian Ellison\, stonemason with our partner\, Stone Technical Services\, at Kirkoswald Castle in the Fellfoot Forward area for a site tour and instruction in the use of lime mortar working on a heritage building. You will tour the tower to understand the various techniques required in the consolidation of this heritage building and you will be put to work on deep tamping and pointing. No previous experience required. Wear old clothes and strong sturdy footwear\, bring working gloves\, your lunch and a flask. Hard hats and high vis will be provided.
