The film is 45-60 minutes long\, and the Q&A session after will last approximately one hour. \nLeaving It Better\, is a film produced alongside a project that brought together environmental campaigners from across the North East with a group of farmers from Upper Teesdale in the North Pennines National Landscape. Over the course of the project duration\, the group met on farms in Teesdale to have conversations about the works and activities the campaigners were involved in\, and the feelings of responsibility farmers feel\, as custodians of the landscape\, considering the impact of our actions in the landscapes and communities we live in. \nAlongside the film screening\, will be the launch of a podcast episode and zine\, both of which have been created as part of this project. These offer further insights\, personal reflections\, and creative responses inspired by the conversations and connections formed during the project’s duration. \nThe aim of the project was to create spaces for dialogue between two groups of people who are not often in conversation with each other\, and both of whom sometimes feel misrepresented in the media. It offered a place for farmers and campaigners to come together and explore each other’s areas of work and interest. ‘Leaving it Better’ reflects the common ground the group found through listening to each other and the positive actions taken to care for the world around us. \nEveryone welcome\, booking required. The session after lasting approximately one hour. \nSix Inches of Soil follows the inspiring story of British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food – to heal the soil\, benefit our health and provide for local communities. The film follows the highs and lows of three new farmers on their regenerative journey: Anna Jackson\, a Lincolnshire 11th generation arable and sheep farmer; Adrienne Gordon\, a Cambridgeshire small-scale vegetable farmer; and Ben Thomas\, who rears pasture fed beef livestock in Cornwall. \nAs the trio of young farmers strive to adopt regenerative practices and create viable businesses\, they meet seasoned mentors who help them on their journey. They are joined by other experts providing wisdom and solutions from a growing movement of people who are dedicated to changing the trajectory for food\, farming and the planet.
