Explore an upland hay meadow through the lens of plant use with botanist Dr Ruth Starr-Keddle and forager Pia Castleton. During this interactive workshop we will discover edible and medicinal plants, learn about their past and present use and share stories and folklore.
The day will start at Bowlees Visitor Centre, walking to a Teesdale meadow before heading to Wynch Bridge End Cottage to craft some healing balm and kitchen condiments.
All plant materials and equipment will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch and suitable outdoor clothing for a walk. Refreshments will be provided.
This event is delivered as part of the Tees-Swale: naturally connected programme. Tees-Swale is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and led by the North Pennines AONB Partnership in collaboration with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
