Join us to learn more about the identification of Bumblebees in the field with naturalist Steve Hewitt.
Ideal for those wanting to learn how to tell the difference between bees in their garden or out and about, and especially for those interested in bee recording and conservation, Steve will demonstrate some of the key characteristics of bees and what to look for to distinguish different species. You’ll also learn about their habitats and behaviour.
We will meet outside the allotments on Potters’ Bank in Kirkoswald at 1pm (nearest postcode CA10 1EP, grid reference NY 55329 41542, What3words ombudsman.zinc.shadow) and the event will aim to finish for 3pm. If you are driving in, please park conscientiously in the village and walk up to the allotments. Please bring water, sun cream, and dress for all weathers as we will be outdoors. No toilets or hand washing facilities will be available on site.
Although children and young people are welcome to join us, this event is intended for those who are interested in having a closer technical look at bees. If you’re looking for a family friendly option, please take a look at our bug-hunt and pooter making session on the 26th.
Access for pushchairs and wheelchairs may be limited – please contact us for details.
