Join us for the launch event of the ‘Stars in the tarn’ project where you can meet the team of designers, makers, and crafts people, discuss the design of the stargazing pavilion, and find out about your opportunities to get involved.
Dark skies are a key characteristic of the Fellfoot Forward area’s heritage and Carlisle City Council are keen to protect the dark skies at Talkin Tarn in support of wildlife, dark sky events, and to gain designation as a Dark Sky Discovery Site.
We have commissioned a stargazing pavilion at Talkin Tarn, which will encourage people to use the site for stargazing and which can also be used during the daytime as a space for reflection. The stargazing pavilion draws upon the history and materials used in traditional round house construction to bring a new place to rest, reflect and look up.
This is a drop-in event at Talkin Tarn education cabin between 10am – 2pm. All are welcome, no booking required.
