**Cancelled** Geology Walk: Murton

We have taken the decision to cancel our events and deactivate future bookings for a period of time in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. If you have booked for an event that has been cancelled, your refund will be in progress. Please bear with us, as our ticketing platform have a large volume of refunds to process.

Part of our new walking programme taking in some of the key geological features of the North Pennines AONB and UNESCO Global Geopark. Guided by some of our knowledgeable volunteers or our geology projects staff, the walks take place throughout the year, with approximately one walk a month from March to October. See the events page for other walks with starting points across the AONB.

This route climbs the impressive Murton Pike. Here, we find the oldest rocks in the North Pennines, dating back to over 450 million years. Expect a fair amount of uphill.

Please bring water and a snack and expect some rough terrain. Sturdy footwear is essential. No dogs.

Meet at Murton Fell car park, up the lane to the northeast of Murton village. The walk will begin at 10:30.
