Come along to this fabulous stargazing opportunity on Alston Moor. It’s a combination of introduction to the new observatory, themed talks, and (weather permitting) stargazing.
Talk and stargazing opportunity at Alston Moor Golf Club – a truly dark site in the South Tyne Valley. This will be a double event in one evening: firstly there will be a stargazing event with talks and stargazing; and secondly it is an ideal opportunity to see the brand new observatory which has been developed at the Golf Club. This event is being organised by David Hymers.
Advance booking is essential – contact David Hymers on david@davidhymers.com / 07483 327560 to book and pay for your place and for further information.
Tickets cost £10. Event is suitable for ages 16+ (ages 16-18 must come with adult/parent)
As well as the observatory telescope there will access to binoculars and indoors presentation on screen and slides – also with images shown directly from telescope and camera.
Arrive by 6.30pm for tea/coffee, for event start at 7.00pm (finish approximately 9pm). No dogs please – they are a trip hazard in the dark.
Aimed at amateur astronomers over 16 years. If you’re 16-18 you must be accompanied by an adult.
Note that if the skies are cloudy the event will still go ahead – with astronomers giving presentations, providing information and answering questions on all things ‘dark skies’.
This event is part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival running from 25 October to 3 November 2024 – www.NorthPenninesStarFest.org #NorthPennStarFest24 #NPennDarkSkies
