Experience viewing up to 20 shooting stars per hour at Grassholme Observatory, on 20 October 11pm to 2am. Under the wonderfully dark skies view Halley’s Comet, the most famous interloper of them all, which is the parent comet for the Orionid Meteor Shower. A good display is expected from this shower as we head into the midnight and beyond. Tiny dust grains, left behind by Halley’s Comet, interact with the Earth’s atmosphere as a flash of light! As well as the dazzling show overhead there will be the opportunity to stargaze using the observatory’s telescopes.
