Join us for a session of collecting melancholy thistle wildflower seeds from areas in Teesdale on Wednesday 31 July, 10am to 1pm.

Melancholy thistle is present in the best species rich upland hay meadows. It’s abundance in meadows has been reducing and collecting seeds will allow the population to be expanded by growing and planting out into meadows in Teesdale.

As part of the Tees-Swale: naturally connected programme, wildflower seeds will be sown at workshops in the autumn and then grown on. The plants will be used as part of the restoration and enhancement of meadows in Teesdale. Please wear outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes and bring waterproofs.

This session is dependent upon seasonal variations in the ripening of seeds. If the session has to be re-scheduled, this will be communicated to people signed up no later than 26 July.

Sign up using the Better Impact volunteer system.
