County Durham’s largest forest, Hamsterley has a mixture of deciduous woodland, meadows and coniferous woods.
Outdoor activities
It combines commercial forestry with a variety of natural habitats. You’ll find a variety of walking, cycling and horse riding trails. Additional facilities include a shop, a children’s adventure playground, toilets, cycle hire and a downhill mountain bike course.
Hamsterley Forest is also a Dark Sky Discovery Site.
