Join us for a sock knitting workshop on Wednesday 18 November, 10am to 4pm, at High Forest Community Centre, Sinderhope. Lead miners often knitted socks whilst walking to work and in this workshop you will learn the basics of sock construction on a mini sock.

What will be covered:
• Stretchy casting on: distributing an even multiple of stitches (usually 56 to 64) across your working needles.
• The cuff and leg: knitting in the round using rib and stocking stitch
• The heel flap and turn: working back and forth on half the stitches to create a strong heel cup
• The gusset: picking up edge stitches to re-join the round smoothly
• The toe and finishing: decreasing evenly and grafting the final seam using a Kitchener stitch

Before booking you must be able to cast on and knit basic knit and pearl stitches competently. All materials will be provided for participants. Suitable for ages 16+.

Accessible parking is available and the venue is accessible to wheelchair users but there is no accessible toilet. Refreshments will be available, please bring your own lunch and snacks.
