Geology Walk: Blanchland

Part of our new walking programme taking in some of the key geological features of the North Pennines AONB and UNESCO Global Geopark. Guided by some of our knowledgeable volunteers or our geology projects staff, the walks take place throughout the year, with approximately one walk a month from March to October. See the events page for other walks with starting points across the AONB.

This route or around 6km explores the landscape around Blanchland that has been over 300 million years in the making. From tropical seas and deltas to glaciers, minerals and miners – all have played their part in shaping this beautiful place.

Please bring water and a snack and expect some rough terrain. Sturdy footwear is essential. No dogs.

Meet at Blanchland village car park. The walk will begin at 10:30.
