Welcome to the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark

Explore at Bowlees Visitor Centre

Come and explore

Bowlees Visitor Centre is in beautiful Upper Teesdale, next to Low and High Force waterfalls. There’s lots to do in and around the centre and it is a great place to start your visit to the North Pennines National Landscape.

Explore the site around Bowlees Visitor Centre as part of your visit. Take a short walk to Gibson’s Cave and Summerhill Force, go on an invertebrate hunt in the quarry or play in the mud kitchen.

  • If you think trees are terrific (we do), have a wander in the woodland with our new tree activity sheet and see what you can find. Download here.
  • For the full Upper Teesdale waterfall experience, take a walk to Low Force and then stride out along the Pennine Way, up to High Force, then back to Bowlees. Download the leaflet for this popular circular walk (or make a donation at the Visitor Centre for a hard copy)
