Calling all creatives

Calling all creatives

Would you like to exhibit at the North Pennines AONB Partnership’s Bowlees Visitor Centre in upper Teesdale in 2023 or 2024? Our upstairs gallery space is a place to showcase artistic talent of all kinds, inspired by the special qualities of the North Pennines AONB and UNESCO Global Geopark.

We have a number of month-long exhibition slots available in 2023. In April we are looking for expressions of interest in exhibiting work on a bird theme, specifically the waders that come to the North Pennines in their thousands every spring. At the beginning of June we celebrate European Geoparks Week, so we’re seeking an exhibition which has a geology, earth science or landscape theme. In July, we’re looking for a meadow theme, helping to mark National Meadows Day and giving a focus for the spectacular, species-rich upland hay meadows that are such a feature of the AONB. In October, to coincide with our annual Stargazing Festival, we’re looking for an artist focusing on the night sky.

As ever, we’re open to all forms of visual art, including photography, as long as the work is inspired by or connected to the themes of our work or the things that make this landscape special. Submissions from individuals or groups of artists are welcomed.

We’ve not yet set the themes for 2024, but if you would like to express an interest in exhibiting, please contact us.
