Halley’s Comet is the most famous interloper of them all and is the parent comet of the Orionid meteor shower.
A good display is expected from this shower as we head into the night on 22 October, 8pm to midnight at Grassholme Observatory. Under our wonderful dark skies, we can expect to see as many as 20 meteors per hour as the tiny dust grains left behind by Halley’s comet interact with our atmosphere as a flash of light!
As well as the dazzling show overhead the team at Grassholme Observatory will utilise their array of telescopes to view the universe in stunning resolution.
