Green finance: is the conservation sector ready?
27 July 2023
Green finance: is the conservation sector ready? was a workshop session, held in London in May, to discuss green finance with a particular emphasis on peat restoration. It was a warts-and-all day giving people the chance to discuss the issues and the gaps that need filling to ensure success, and to stimulate ideas to work on a way forward.
Sixty-five people attended the day, from government, academia, the UN, private companies, charities, NGOs and more.
This event was the first in a series of activities in London that week. It kick-started the conversation, and despite discussing the many issues faced by the green finance world, attendees left inspired to look to the future and find ways to move forward. There is a strong sense of cohesion and a willingness to identify global systems that will help deliver environmental outcomes using public and private sector finance.
Watch our short film to discover more about the day and the speakers who addressed the challenges of green finance and shared their thoughts on the way forward for the conservation sector. We’ve also shared recordings and a PDF of the presentations from the event.
