Animation inspired by the lead mining heritage of the North Pennines

A workshop with artist Robin Webb in July 2024 explored the history of the North Pennines and mining in Nenthead, using animation to mix the modern day with stories of the past.

Participants captured images on a site visit and manipulated them to tell stories from the past. They used a variety of materials and techniques, such as drawing, painting, photography, video, time-lapse capture and stop motion, to produce the animations. Watch the video below.

The animation workshop was part of the Land of Lead and Silver project which is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England.
