Contribute to an animation inspired by the North Pennines
Would you like to contribute to an original animation about the mining heritage of the North Pennines? Local animation artist, Robin Webb, is creating a unique animated film telling the story of the ‘Land of Lead & Silver’ and would like your contributions.
Robin is looking for new and old photos, video footage of places, people and the landscape, and/or any drawings or paintings you have made. The only requirement is that these must be your own photos/video/original works. You could even record your words or sounds to tell a story, your family’s history or your experience of the landscape.
Images can be accepted in any digital format, preferably at full resolution. Videos should ideally be in landscape format (though not essential) and MP4 or MOV files are great. Please don’t send in original artwork – all you need to do is photograph it in a good light, try to avoid shadows and reflections from a strong or coloured light. Sounds can be sent in MP3 or WAV formats. Any words or written work can be sent in as Microsoft Word or PDF documents.
During the Nenthead200 weekend, Robin will be running drop-in sessions at the Barracks building at Nenthead Mines on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August from 11am to 3pm. You can have a go at producing your own stop-motion animations, using plasticine or cut-outs to bring your Nenthead200 inspired creations to life. No prior knowledge of animation is needed as you’ll be given full instructions on how to create and make your productions. Your animations could also form part of the animation that Robin is creating as part of the Land of Lead & Silver project to tell the story of the North Pennines mining heritage.
The Land of Lead and Silver project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, and Historic England.
