Exhibition at Bowlees Visitor Centre – Peatland Perspectives
17 July 2026
Peatland Perspectives – 11 July to 4 August 2026
2026 marks 20 years of the North Pennines National Landscape team’s work on peatland restoration. This exhibition celebrates the beauty and inspiration of these landscapes, as well as the work to bring over 50,000 hectares of peatland under active restoration.
Our peatlands have long inspired artists, writers and photographers, and images of these expansive fells remote moorlands are often what people most associate with the North Pennines. This exhibition brings together different representations of these dramatic landscapes, their rich wildlife and their context for conservation and upland life.
Peatland Perspectives is on show from 10am to 5pm at Bowlees Visitor Centre, from 11 July to 4 August. Please note that although the main visitor centre area is accessible, the gallery space is accessed via stairs. Ceramics, paintings and cards will be on sale as part of the exhibition.
