The Fellfoot Forward scheme and DigVentures kick off the next stage of the Uncovering the Past programme with in-the-field activities at some of the North Pennines’ most enigmatic prehistoric monuments.

Join us for a day of discovery as we explore the historic tumulus at Carlatton using a range of survey and remote sensing methods. As a group, you will be taught key archaeological skills in landscape survey by DigVentures’ professional archaeologists as preparation for further exploratory fieldwork in the summer. In this session we will:

– Undertake a condition survey of the monument
– Conduct a geophysical survey in search of a nearby missing medieval church

Absolutely no experience necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know. All you’ll need is a good pair of boots, waterproofs, and a level of fitness to spend the day on your feet in the landscape.
