This special event will present the sounds of Fellfoot Forward as you’ve never heard them before.
Presented by BlueJam Arts and Eden Valley Artistic Network, the evening will feature regional musicians and artists creatively responding to the sounds of the Fellfoot Forward landscape. From its dawn chorus, to streams and rivers, and the shifting accents and dialects.
The event will combine traditional music, experimental music, and collaboratively produced sounds, together presenting creative work that inspires new ways of listening to the landscape.
Performing artists and musicians include Carolyn Francis, fiddle, bagpipes, loops, landscapes and poetry, and Fellfoot Sound Collective, experimental soundscapes from a newly-established Fellfoot Forward ensemble.
The artists performing have worked together as part of the Fellfoot Forward Landscape Partnership Scheme, led by the North Pennines AONB Partnership and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. They have been working with broadcasted sounds collected by sound artist, Chris Watson, and Fellfoot Sounds Collective.
Artists, musicians and creatives who would like to help remix the sounds of the Fellfoot Forward area for this event can join the free workshop on Saturday 7 October at Melmerby village hall.
This event forms part of ‘Everything Changes, Everything Stays The Same’, a 2023 community arts project funded by Arts Council England and Westmorland and Furness Council.
