Join the team on Saturday 17 October, 6pm to 8.30pm, or 8.30pm to 11pm, for an unforgettable evening of stargazing and fine dining at High Force Hotel and Waterfall, one of the UK’s premier stargazing destinations, set in the heart of the North Pennines National Landscape.
Begin your experience with a delicious three-course meal in the elegant Garden Room, followed by a fascinating presentation on the stars above. As night falls, head down to the illuminated High Force Waterfall, creating the most compelling setting for this experience, where you will witness the power of nature by moonlight, and take in some of the darkest, clearest skies in England.
Your experience will include geological insight and information about the formation of High Force, along with a storytelling aspect that will reveal more about the history of Teesdale.
A professional astronomy guide will help you explore constellations, planets, and celestial wonders, sharing stories and science as you stargaze in this truly magical setting.

Whether you are a passionate amateur astronomer, a curious first-timer, or looking for a romantic and unique gift experience, this is a night to remember.
Bring warm/waterproof clothes. The walk to the waterfall will be dark and may be slippery – suitable footwear is advised. For safety reasons please do not bring large bags, tripods or other bulky equipment. No dogs please – they’re a trip hazard in the dark.
The walk down to the waterfall (approx. 600m) can be challenging for people with mobility issues. Mobility scooters are unable to be used on the route at night. If you have any questions regarding accessibility please contact High Force Hotel in advance (01833 622336 or highforcehotel@raby.co.uk).
The sky can sometimes be restricted by cloud cover or poor conditions. This is just the nature of the event and is beyond the organisers control. Whatever the sky conditions you are sure of a night of fascinating and insightful information and visual displays.
