This attractive walk takes you from Blanchland, along the River Derwent, up on to open moorland. The moorland is exposed and can experience harsh weather.
This is a varied walk that begins with a climb up from the village of Blanchland. The walk passes through woodland and pasture with magnificent views of the Derwent Valley and Edmundbyers Common, finally dropping down to the river and returning to the village

Ashgill Force is a stunning waterfall with a path access that enables you to stand behind it.
On this circular walk you will follow the 'commute' of 19th century miners, such as poet Richard Watson. Starting at Bowlees Visitor Centre, you will pass Hood Gill, Holwick Scar, and take in Low Force Waterfall.
Eggleston Burn runs along the western edge beside the old sand quarry. In the summer sand martins nest in the cliff face and can be seen from the bottom path. Other birds to watch for are dippers and birds of prey such as red kite and buzzard.
