A volunteer opportunity to help unearth the mining archives of the North Pennines, at High Forest Community Centre, Sinderhope, 10 August, 10am to 3pm.
This indoor workshop is designed to make use of volunteers’ knowledge while developing a shared understanding of the North Pennines mining landscape. No previous knowledge is required, although those with an interest in mining history or industrial archaeology will have plenty of opportunity to contribute.
The morning session will be working with historic photographs, maps and plans to help identify mining features and create an annotated resource. The afternoon session will focus on reviewing the ‘long list’ of priority recording sites in the North Pennines.
This hands-on workshop will also build resources for future volunteers, and help shape which North Pennines mining sites Land of Lead and Silver’s records.
Suitable for 18+ only. Please contact us if you have any accessibility requirements. Refreshments will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
